Polynucleotides are skin-boosting injections similar to injectable moisture treatments like Profhilo, but with the added benefit of reducing fine lines and uneven skin tone by stimulating collagen and elastin production alongside improved hydration.
They've gained significant attention in recent years due to their unique origin — derived from purified salmon or trout DNA fragments which, surprisingly, trigger the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid in human skin. As injectable biostimulators, they work at a cellular level to encourage the skin to rejuvenate itself from within.
They're also anti-inflammatory, and particularly effective for treating dark circles under the eyes — an area where dermal filler has traditionally been the go-to solution.
To have their effect, polynucleotides need to be injected beneath the skin’s surface using a fine needle. Once there, instead of directly adding volume to the skin, they work as biostimulators, targeting the fibroblasts, which play a crucial role in collagen production and wound healing.
By doing so they encourage the skin under your eyes to regenerate itself from the inside out, promoting the synthesis of both collagen and elastin. This results in boosted hydration, reduced inflammation and improved texture, tone and firmness, meaning less visible fine lines, dark circles and wrinkles over time.
Polynucleotides also scavenge up unstable molecules, called free radicals, which further helps to counteract skin ageing.
Options for concerns like hollow or sunken-looking eyes and under-eye wrinkles have pretty much been limited to HA filler, which isn’t suited to everyone and can look puffy. Polynucleotides, like Nucleofill, on the other hand can treat multiple causes of under-eye concerns, working to deeply hydrate, firm and tighten the skin, improve microcirculation, and smooth lines and wrinkles.

No – dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, which fills an area and attracts water, whereas injectable Polynucleotide serum doesn’t fill the space. It does have a moisturising effect by attracting water, but also acts as an antioxidant and an internal messenger, signalling to the dermis to grow new skin cells.
Yes! Polynucleotides improves skin quality, while Botox relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkles. They work excellently together for a total eye rejuvenation.
It is not recommended for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or those with a known fish allergy (as PN is often derived from salmon DNA). Additional contraindications include active skin infections, autoimmune conditions, and certain blood clotting disorders.
