Vaginal Tightening & Rejuvenation

Vaginal rejuvenation is done for both cosmetic and medical reasons. It has the ability to address and improve some serious issues that can alter the quality of life for a woman. One of the best treatments is the Affinity erbium laser, which can heal and repair vaginal tissue with little to no downtime. It’s a non-surgical method to revive sensitivity and tightness, all with 100% discretion and privacy.

Recovery Time

Ladies, it’s time to talk. We all know that women’s bodies change due to childbirth, menopause, surgical procedures or breast cancer therapies. But recent studies have shown that 26% of women experience urinary incontinence. 50% experience unexpected leakage after childbirth and 15% have vaginal and vulvar atrophy, which can lead to discomfort during sex. The Affinity treatment uses a laser, which passes twice over the area being treated. The first pass stimulates the production of collagen. The second pass remodels the tissue, causing the formation of new blood vessels and new nerve endings.

Patients love the results: increased moisture, increase in the quality of their sexual life, and improved appearance.

Issues requiring vaginal rejuvenation

Vaginal atrophy, is when the tissue in the vaginal area becomes thin, dry or inflamed. This can be a result of reduced estrogen levels and perimenopause, menopause, or because of cancer treatments. It causes intercourse and urination to be painful, and can also cause frequent urination or urinary incontinence.

When the vagina becomes dry and does not lubricate properly, it can make sexual intercourse a challenge, which can clearly take a large toll on a relationship. And urinary incontinence can be a major embarrassment. The other issue may be loose skin and tissue, which takes away from the tightness of the vagina and vulvar tissues. In the past, surgical procedures such as vaginoplasty or labiaplasty were used to correct these issues. Now, with the Affinity Laser treatment, there is finally a noninvasive procedure that may be a much better option for many women. Affinity Laser treatment offers far fewer risks and side effects than surgery with minimal downtime with excellent results over a series of short treatments.

Affinity Vaginal Tightening & Rejuvenation is Ideal For:

  • Menopausal or perimenopausal women
  • Post-partum women
  • Those who have undergone a hysterectomy or cancer treatment
  • Women who do not want hormonal therapy
  • People on hormone therapy or hormone blockers
  • Post-radiation changes, chronic inflammatory disease (LSnA)
  • Women who want to improve the quality of their sexual life
  • Women who want to enhance the appearance of the vaginal area

What makes the Affinity Laser unique is that it delivers two passes of energy to exactly the right levels – not too deep or too shallow. The first vaporizes the tissue with erbium laser energy (ablation), and the second pass uses a warming effect. Both actually cause the area to be slightly injured. While this may sound counterintuitive, it actually forces the healing process to kick in by stimulating new blood vessels and nerve endings, and producing new elastin and collagen. This will youthen and tighten the skin while increasing lubrication.

Each Affinity treatment lasts about 15-30 minutes and has little to no discomfort or downtime. You’ll probably feel a warm sensation and a light “knocking” sensation. The internal treatment does not require any numbing. For the external treatment, we use topical numbing for best patient comfort. We recommend two or three treatments to get the most benefits, and space them four to six weeks apart.

Risks and side effects are low, but may uncommonly include bleeding or infection. And you should avoid sex, swimming, and hot tubs for four days after each treatment.

You will be considered a suitable candidate for this procedure if you wish to tighten the walls of the vaginal canal. You may have undergone childbirth or have lost structure as a result of ageing. However, this procedure can be performed for anyone over the age of 18, even those who are younger and do not have children.

Before undergoing the laser vaginal tightening procedure, you will be required to attend a consultation with one of our specialists. They will be able to assess whether you are a suitable candidate for this procedure, or whether you should undergo a different gynaecological procedure.

Consultation
Your health and wellbeing are of paramount importance to us. During your vaginal rejuvenation consultation, we will talk through your medical history to rule out any contraindications. The consultation provides a great opportunity for you to ask us any questions you may have. We will always answer honestly and openly.

During the Affinity treatment
A single-use, sterile, disposable tube will be used deep inside the vagina. The Erbium YAG Fractional laser that will be emitted through this probe is the same kind of laser that has been used for many years on facial rejuvenation treatments. Your nurse will control the depth and the amount of laser energy that will be transmitted. The laser can trigger the production of new collagen to achieve the desired tightening effect or correct urinary incontinence. Clients have reported minimal discomfort during treatment, however, if you feel any pain or sensation during the treatment, the nurse will adjust the laser settings to keep discomfort at a minimum.

After the Affinity treatment
Since it is a non-surgical treatment, downtime is minimal with Affinity, however, you should expect to experience some tenderness and sensitivity in the treated area. You should abstain from vaginal intercourse for at least 4 days or longer, and may be asked to avoid any strenuous exercise for 3 days, hot baths or saunas. Usually, we recommend a course of 3 treatments, with each treatment being four weeks apart.

FAQs

What does Affinity treatment involve?

For the majority of cases, three sessions of Affinity with a one-month interval are sufficient to achieve noticeable results. No special pre-op preparations or post-op precautions are necessary. You can immediately return to your normal everyday activities. Additional advantages of Affinity are that the procedure is incisionless and virtually painless. Recovery is extremely quick without need for the use of analgesics or antibiotics.

How does Affinity treatment work?
