What is Cosmelan Peel?

Cosmelan® is currently one of the world’s most effective and best-selling treatments for skin depigmentation, with the capacity to reduce pigmentation by 90-95%. Cosmelan® is effective in treating various forms of hyperpigmentation, including post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

As a topical skin whitening solution, Cosmelan® is specifically engineered to diminish the appearance of dark spots and patches. Its innovative formulation is designed to ensure the greatest possible effectiveness while maintaining optimal tolerability. The mechanism of action of Cosmelan® is targeted at the skin cells responsible for pigmentation, inhibiting the production of melanin in hyperpigmented areas. This results in the significant reduction, or lightening, of unwanted skin blemishes and spots. The treatment helps to even out skin tone, giving you a more uniform and radiant complexion.

Within the initial one to two weeks of Cosmelan® treatment, discernible improvements in the skin’s appearance can be observed. Spots become less noticeable and lighter, while the skin acquires a youthful vitality and a refreshed glow. The treatment has proven highly effective, boasting an efficacy rate of up to 95% in cases of age spots, dark patches, and other forms of hyperpigmentation. However, it should be noted that individual results may vary.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Cosmelan Peel is a professional skin treatment that helps reduce dark spots and even out skin tone. It is considered to be the world’s leading skin lightening formula that can target all types of skin pigmentation with just one treatment. The Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel works by slowing down the production of melanin, the substance responsible for skin colour and dark spots.

Cosmelan Peel is a skin treatment that can help with several skin conditions, including:

  • Dark spots or patches (hyperpigmentation)
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Sun damage
  • Melasma (dark patches often caused by hormonal changes)
  • Acne marks
  • Freckles

The treatment works by reducing the production of melanin, which is responsible for skin color. It’s especially useful for people with stubborn skin discoloration that hasn’t responded well to other treatments.

Cosmelan Peel tackles skin pigmentation by inhibiting tyrosinase, an enzyme crucial in melanin production. Melanin is the pigment responsible for skin color and dark spots. By slowing down melanin formation, Cosmelan Peel helps fade existing dark spots and prevents new ones from forming. This process leads to a more even skin tone and reduced appearance of hyperpigmentation, including those caused by sun damage, hormonal changes, or acne scars.

The timeline for Cosmelan Peel results can vary, but many people start noticing improvements within 2-3 weeks. Initially, you might see a general brightening of the skin. More significant changes in pigmentation usually become visible after 4-6 weeks.

It’s important to note that while some results are quick, the treatment continues working over time to prevent new pigmentation. Maintaining results requires diligent sun protection and following the prescribed skincare routine.

Often, a single treatment is enough, but some cases may require follow-up treatments for best results.

While Cosmelan Peel is a type of depigmentation peel, it’s a specific brand with unique features.

Depigmentation peels generally aim to reduce skin discolouration, but Cosmelan Peel is known for its comprehensive approach. It not only removes existing pigmentation but also prevents future dark spots by regulating melanin production. Unlike some other depigmentation treatments, Cosmelan Peel is suitable for various skin types and can address multiple pigmentation concerns, including melasma, sun spots, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Cosmelan Peel can cause some temporary side effects as your skin adjusts to the treatment. Common effects include redness, similar to a sunburn, which usually lasts for a few days. Peeling or flaking of the skin is also normal and can last for about a week. In rare cases, there might be temporary darkening of the skin before it starts to lighten. These effects are generally mild and subside as your skin heals. It’s crucial to follow post-treatment care instructions to minimise side effects and achieve the best results.
Cosmelan treatment may also be used on the body, and is commonly used on the back, shoulders, arms décolletage and hands, which all commonly experience forms of hyperpigmentation.

Any products containing Vitamin C or retinols should be avoided throughout the first 1 month at least or as advised. These will be too stimulating for the skin.

During the first month, the skin will be particularly sensitised, and we would therefore only recommend they use the products contained in the aftercare pack with the maintenance cream.

After the first month however, when the skin is no longer irritated, we recommend introducing other products from the mesoestetic whitening range, along with the melan tran3x concentrate and melan tran3x gelcream.

You should start to see substantial improvement after just two weeks. Blemishes, pigmented patches will start to diminish, and skin will start to look brighter. You will be given your aftercare regimen, which is a complex home skincare routine that you have to follow for up to 9-12 months to ensure effective maintenance.
